Official Selection, Toronto International Film Festival 2024. Eighteen years after starring together in Shemi Zarhin’s Aviva My Love, screen legend Sasson Gabay proves that he and Assi Levy have an enduring chemistry as they reunite for Zarhin’s latest film, Bliss. Sassi and Effi are a married couple juggling multiple jobs to repay the gambling debts of Sassi’s son. Despite their wide age gap and financial struggles, their love and good humour sustain them. However, the arrival of a grandson and the reappearance of a former physical therapy patient upsets their equilibrium, testing their bonds as a couple. With his characteristic sensitivity, Zahrin delivers a touching and multi-layered exploration of one couple’s marriage.Part of the series, Artist in Residence: Sasson Gabay sponsored by Kultura Collective, with contributing support from Canada-Israel Cultural Foundation. ASL Interpretation available for introduction and post-film Q&A (June 10 only).
