Acclaimed filmmaker Nir Bergman (Here We Are, Broken Wings) delivers a touching, provocative film that charts one woman’s courageous journey of self-discovery, freedom and faith. Ultra-Orthodox Battie’s seemingly perfect life is shattered when she discovers that her husband Lazer is being blackmailed by a gang who threatens to disclose his homosexual affair with his study partner. Desperate to protect her husband and family from scandal, Battie stands by Lazer while he tries to “cure” his homosexuality. At the same time, she learns to confront her own hidden desires. This poignant portrait of a marriage won the prize for best director at the Tallin Black Nights Film Festival.ASL Interpretation available for introduction and post-film Q&A (June 9 only).
