Adapted from Christophe Boltanski’s award-winning memoir, The Safe House follows a 9-year-old boy living with his multigenerational, free-spirited Jewish family in Paris, against the backdrop of the student protests of May 1968. The film approaches the family’s WWII history with humour when they transform their home into a hiding spot for an unexpected visitor. Featuring legendary actor Michel Blanc in his final role, the film adopts a vibrant jazz score and a whimsical visual style. The Safe House radiates with warmth while offering a heartfelt meditation on history, memory, and the stories we pass down.
